Meta launches AI powered dating assistant and Meet Cute feature on Facebook Dating

Meta has announced a major update to Facebook Dating with the launch of an AI powered dating assistant and a new feature called Meet Cute. The company said these tools are designed to make dating more engaging and to move beyond the endless swiping common on other platforms.

“Today, we’re introducing a dating assistant and Meet Cute, two new Facebook Dating features that help you skip the swipe and give you fresh ways to connect with the people you want to date,” the company said in a blog post.

The new dating assistant acts as a personalised guide within Facebook Dating. It can refine matches based on user interests and preferences, respond to unique prompts such as “Find me a Brooklyn girl in tech,” and even suggest dating ideas. The assistant can also recommend profile improvements and provide more tailored suggestions beyond standard filters like height or education. It will be rolled out gradually in the United States and Canada and can be accessed through the Matches tab.

Alongside this, Facebook Dating is introducing Meet Cute, a feature that pairs users with surprise matches based on Meta’s algorithm. Initially, users will receive one match a week, with the possibility of more frequent pairings in the future. Matches can be accepted for a conversation or declined instantly. The feature aims to appeal to those who are tired of swiping and want a more refreshing way to connect.

“These new features are designed to help address swipe fatigue, and we’ll continue to evolve Facebook Dating to help make meeting people easy, fun, and free,” the company added.
