Swiggy Launches Standalone App Toing in Pune to Target Affordable Food Delivery Market

As competition in India’s food delivery industry intensifies with new players like Rapido’s Ownly, Swiggy has rolled out a new standalone app named Toing. The app, now live in Pune, is Swiggy’s latest effort to strengthen its presence in the affordable food delivery segment.

Unlike Swiggy’s main platform, Toing focuses on curated restaurant selections, simplified ordering, an easier user journey, and lower pricing. The app also assures users that restaurant prices match offline rates.

According to a person familiar with the development, the app is aimed at students, the Gen Z population, and early-career professionals. “The Pune location is chosen because it is an education hub and a less explored market as far as food delivery is concerned, while Bangalore is a saturated one,” the person said. Toing is positioned for consumers with limited incomes, offering budget-friendly meal options.

The app highlights items priced below Rs 99 and promises delivery within 30 minutes. Its menu includes a wide variety such as cakes, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, sweets, ice creams, pizzas, biryani, dosa, kebabs, parathas, noodles, and pastries. Swiggy’s main app also has a Rs 99 store featuring affordable meals.

A comparison of identical orders in Pune showed pricing differences between the two apps. For an item priced at Rs 189, Toing’s final payable amount was Rs 210, while the same order on Swiggy cost Rs 238. Both platforms offered free delivery on orders above Rs 99.

For an order worth Rs 89, Toing charged Rs 124, while the same order on Swiggy came to Rs 193. Notably, Toing did not impose packaging fees or additional rain fees, whereas Swiggy did. Toing also charged a lower platform fee at Rs 12 compared to Swiggy’s Rs 14.99.

Swiggy already operates another standalone app, Snacc, which delivers food through a micro-kitchen model with private labelling. In contrast, Toing works directly with restaurants and offers meals priced between Rs 99 and Rs 149, the person added.

According to Play Store data, Toing has already crossed 500 downloads and is available on both the Play Store and App Store. Emails sent to Swiggy seeking comments went unanswered.

Food delivery growth in India has been relatively slow, but Swiggy’s gross order value showed an improvement in the first quarter of FY26, reaching Rs 8,086 crore compared to Rs 7,347 crore in the previous quarter.
