Uber Partners with Joby Aviation to Bring Air Mobility Services to Its App

Uber is preparing to expand its travel services with a new partnership with Joby Aviation, which will bring air mobility offerings directly onto the Uber app. This development comes after Joby acquired Blade Air Mobility’s passenger business in August. Blade transported more than 50,000 passengers in 2024 across routes in New York and Southern Europe. Following this integration, Blade flights are expected to be available on Uber as early as next year, giving customers a seamless option to travel between airports, city centres, and other busy routes.

“Since Uber’s earliest days, we’ve believed in the power of advanced air mobility to deliver safe, quiet and sustainable transportation to cities around the world,” said Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer of Uber. “By harnessing the scale of the Uber platform and partnering with Joby, we’re excited to bring to our customers the next generation of travel.”

The move also deepens Uber’s partnership with Joby, which began in 2019 and grew stronger after Joby acquired Uber’s Elevate division in 2021. With Blade’s well-established infrastructure and operational expertise now included, Joby plans to accelerate the launch of its own electric air taxi services across multiple international markets. These will include Dubai, New York, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

For Uber, this partnership reflects its ambition to strengthen its multi modal transport network. The company aims to provide customers with a wide range of mobility choices by placing helicopters and electric air taxis alongside its existing offerings of cars, bikes, and deliveries. This bold step positions Uber to play a leading role in shaping the future of urban mobility and redefining how people navigate through cities worldwide.
