Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has joined hands with four leading global technology companies to offer advanced training in 5G, artificial intelligence, networking, cybersecurity and other digital technologies at its premier training centre BRBRAITT in Jabalpur.
The collaboration involves Ericsson India, Qualcomm Technologies, Cisco Systems and Nokia Solutions and Networks. It is an important step towards creating the Telecom Innovation, Research and Training Centre, which is planned as a national hub for telecom research, innovation and workforce development.
Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia called the initiative “a landmark step in building a skilled and future-ready telecom workforce” and said the programme will train more than 2,000 students every year. The first phase has already seen an investment of over ₹1 crore.
Under the partnership, Ericsson India will set up a 5G Centre of Excellence at BRBRAITT and will provide both hands-on and online training through its Educate Programme.
Qualcomm Technologies will launch the Qualcomm Institute to focus on 5G and AI training for students, trainers and government staff. This will include online content, live sessions and internships. The first 100 participants will receive sponsored training.
Cisco Systems will use its Networking Academy to deliver training in networking, cybersecurity and IT infrastructure. It will give free access to its curriculum and digital tools, which will be implemented across non-profit educational institutions.
Nokia Solutions and Networks will help establish a 5G Centre of Excellence and an AI and machine learning lab at BRBRAITT. It will train 300 students every year in 5G radio, core networks and AI or ML, along with a joint certification with BRBRAITT.
This public and private sector partnership supports key national missions including Digital India, Skill India, Make in India, Startup India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. It aims to create a self-reliant and technology-savvy workforce for the future.
