Google Rolls Out AI Mode in India for All Users

Google has officially rolled out its new AI Mode in India for all users, just weeks after it was launched as an experimental feature under Google Labs. This new AI-powered search experience is now available without requiring any sign-up and is designed to provide detailed, contextual responses across a wide range of topics.

AI Mode, now live for everyone in India, allows users to ask more complex and layered questions in English. The feature delivers in-depth answers and supports follow-up questions while remembering the context of the conversation. Users can type their queries, use voice input, or submit images through Google Lens to get relevant and detailed results, including links to sources.

Google noted that the initial test phase received positive feedback, especially regarding the speed and quality of responses. Encouraged by this, the company has now integrated AI Mode directly into Search and the Google app’s search bar.

How Google AI Mode Works:

AI Mode is powered by a customised version of Gemini 2.5, the latest model in Google’s Gemini language model family. This advanced AI engine enables users to ask multi-layered, specific questions without needing to conduct multiple searches. The AI processes all details at once and provides a comprehensive response.

For example, users can ask for activity ideas for energetic kids on hot days without access to toys or large spaces. AI Mode considers all aspects of the query and responds with suggestions that fit the context, offering a more natural and helpful interaction.

This feature aims to enhance how people learn new concepts, follow step-by-step instructions, and explore complex subjects more efficiently through a conversational search experience.

The rollout is happening over the next few days and will be visible in the Search interface for English-language users across India.
