Nasscom sets up talent council to future-proof India’s tech

In an effort to strengthen India’s digital talent pool, Nasscom on Tuesday announced the formation of a new Talent Council focused on driving workforce development across emerging technologies.

The council will help define national skilling priorities in key areas such as DeepTech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and cybersecurity. It will also work to boost collaborations between industry and academic institutions.

“This is a critical step in reimagining our talent strategy. India must evolve from being talent-rich to building expert talent that applies technology to innovate enterprise and society,” said Sathish HC, Chief Delivery Officer at Infosys. Sathish will head the council, which includes senior HR leaders from different parts of the technology sector.

The move comes as India looks to sharpen its competitive edge in the global tech space by nurturing highly skilled experts in next-generation technologies.

Earlier, during a fireside chat with Nasscom President Rajesh Nambiar, Information Technology Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan shared that the state recently achieved a major milestone of supporting 10,000 start-ups, with half of them being women-led.

The new Talent Council is expected to play a key role in shaping India’s skilling roadmap, ensuring the country has a steady pipeline of experts who can drive innovation in both industry and society.
