All data associated with the Indian grocery delivery startup KiranaPro, which includes sensitive customer information stored on its servers and app code, has been destroyed following a cyberattack that occurred between May 24 and 25, as reported by Media.
According to KiranaPro co-founder and CEO Deepak Ravindran, attackers, believed to have exploited a former employee’s account, managed to breach KiranaPro’s AWS and GitHub accounts. He also mentioned that the company had plans to expand its operations to 100 cities across India before the hack took place. Additionally, the multi-factor authentication code used for the startup’s AWS account was changed, and all Electric Compute Cloud services were eliminated.
“We can only log in through the IAM [Identity and Access Management] account, through which we can see that the EC2 instances don’t exist anymore, but we are not able to get any logs or anything because we don’t have the root account,” noted KiranaPro Chief Technology Officer Saurav Kumar. Investigation into the identity of the attacker is ongoing.
