In a key leadership move, quick commerce startup Zepto has appointed Rachit Ranjan as its Chief Public Policy Officer, a role that reflects the company’s growing focus on policy, regulation, and government engagement as it continues to scale at lightning speed.
Ranjan, who brings with him years of experience at the intersection of public policy, digital economy, and governance, is set to lead Zepto’s strategic efforts to build strong partnerships across governmental and regulatory landscapes. His appointment is seen as a step towards building a robust dialogue between the company and policymakers, especially in a sector that is rapidly evolving and often under scrutiny for its operational speed and urban infrastructure impact.
Before joining Zepto, Ranjan served as Director of Public Policy at CoinSwitch, where he played a crucial role in navigating the complex and dynamic crypto policy space. His insights helped steer the company through an evolving regulatory environment. Prior to this, he contributed his expertise at the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), where he worked on public engagement, digital outreach, and political strategies at scale. His ability to connect business goals with policy frameworks has been widely acknowledged.
At Zepto, his mission will be to guide the company through the shifting tides of policy reform, compliance, and public engagement while strengthening collaboration with local, state, and national institutions. With Ranjan on board, Zepto aims to deepen its engagement in key policy conversations around delivery logistics, labour frameworks, sustainability, and the digital economy.
