Hyderabad Cops Bust Nationwide Cybercrime : ICICI Employee Caught in ₹1.22 Cr Cyber Scam

A relationship manager at ICICI Bank was apprehended by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police for defrauding an individual out of Rs 1.22 crore through bogus stock investments. The suspect, identified as Deepak Kumar, 31, was leveraging his role to assist cyber criminals via the Telegram app in exchange for commissions.

Following his arrest, authorities discovered his involvement in 23 cases nationwide, with transactions totaling Rs 6 crores linked to his account. The police revealed that he had established a network to deceive unsuspecting victims under the guise of offering trading advice.

The scheme was uncovered when a victim from Secunderabad reported to the cyber crime police that he had been contacted by online fraudsters using the Telegram ID: Doll6726@ Navyaand, who lured him into investing by promising free trading tips. After a short period, they directed him to trading apps provided by the fraudsters, claiming he could earn substantial profits.

Trusting their guidance, the victim transferred Rs 1.22 crore. A case has been registered under various sections of the IT Act-2008 and the BNS. The Hyderabad police have urged the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent investment groups on platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, X, Instagram, and Meta. Victims of cyber fraud are encouraged to call 1930 or visit the official website for assistance.
