Microsoft Appoints Himani Agrawal as COO for India & South Asia

In a strategic move that reinforces its commitment to leveraging the power of AI, Microsoft has announced several high-profile leadership appointments across its India and South Asia operations. This reshuffling comes as part of the company’s ongoing drive to empower every sector, organization, and individual within the region through innovative AI-driven solutions.

Among the newly appointed leaders are Nitin Mittal as Industry Leader for Digital Natives, Himani Agrawal as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Microsoft India & South Asia, and Aparna Kondaboina as Head of Human Resources for MCAPS India & South Asia. These changes underscore Microsoft’s focus on not just expanding its AI and digital capabilities, but also creating a more dynamic leadership structure.

Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India & South Asia, shared, “Each of these leaders will bring deep functional expertise and business acumen to further strengthen our leadership team. Nitin’s vast experience in building digital platforms will prove essential as we continue to innovate. Himani Agrawal, with more than 25 years of leadership experience, is set to drive significant revenue growth for Microsoft in the region. Her focus will be on aligning business goals across the company, fostering strategic innovation, simplifying operations, and delivering efficiency.

Having previously held roles such as Chief Partner Officer and Country Head for Azure and Business Applications, Himani has a remarkable track record in scaling teams and driving impactful business transformations. Reflecting on her appointment, Himani said, “Our collective ambition at Microsoft is to stay ahead of disruption and consistently deliver excellence. I’m thrilled to be part of a team that’s not only shaping the future of technology but also pioneering transformative approaches in how we work, innovate, and partner.”

Nitin Mittal brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously held key leadership positions at organizations like Zee Entertainment, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). He also founded SOLV, a B2B platform designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Aparna Kondaboina, another key leadership addition, has a remarkable history at Microsoft, having led HR strategy for the company’s India Development Centre (IDC) and achieved exceptional results in talent strategy. In her new role, Aparna will steer the HR strategy to enhance talent and cultural outcomes within Microsoft’s commercial business division.

With these dynamic leadership changes, Microsoft is clearly positioning itself for even greater success in the region, advancing its mission to transform industries with AI-driven solutions that touch every facet of life.
