In a notable leadership transition, homegrown vernacular social media giant ShareChat has announced the elevation of its Chief Financial Officer, Manohar Charan, to the role of Co-founder. The move is symbolic of a renewed strategic direction, as Charan takes on this pivotal responsibility while continuing to serve as the company’s CFO, a role he has held since November 2020.
The announcement was made by Charan himself via his professional networking profile, reflecting both personal pride and organizational trust.
“In addition to my current responsibilities, I am honored to step into the role of Co-founder at ShareChat. Excited for what lies ahead,” he shared.
Before stepping into the CFO shoes at ShareChat, Charan held the position of Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategic Finance. His resume is stacked with high-impact stints, having previously worked with Zomato as Vice-President, and led Strategic Finance at Uber for the India and South Asia region, driving key financial strategies during high-growth phases.
Charan’s expanded leadership role comes just months after ShareChat’s original co-founders, Bhanu Pratap Singh and Farid Ahsan, stepped away from their active operational roles in January 2025. This development, though quiet in its timing, marks a significant pivot as ShareChat strengthens its core leadership with seasoned experience to navigate the next phase of growth in India’s rapidly evolving social tech space.
Known for championing India’s regional language internet, ShareChat has become a symbol of cultural inclusivity, local-first content, and regional digital empowerment, making this announcement not just a leadership update but a reaffirmation of its long-term vision.
