In a strategic leadership shift, Petronet LNG has officially welcomed Saurav Mitra as its new Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This transition was greenlit following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the nod from the Audit Committee of the company’s board.
Mitra, a seasoned finance expert with a distinguished track record, will assume the mantle from Vinod Kumar Mishra, whose term concludes on 18 April 2025. Mitra’s tenure as CFO is set for a five-year period beginning the day he takes over this prestigious role.
At 56, Saurav Mitra brings more than 30 years of robust experience in the energy and petroleum sectors. An Associate Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ACMA), he has built his legacy with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) and its international arm, Lanka IOC PLC. During his time at Lanka IOC, he spearheaded crucial financial strategies as CFO, playing a vital role in the company’s growth, expansion, and operational stability.
Petronet LNG, India’s pioneering entity in LNG import and regasification infrastructure, continues to evolve as it navigates through this leadership change. The firm was originally established to develop, construct, and manage Petronet LNG terminals across the country.
On the financial front, Petronet LNG recently reported a 25.7% drop in consolidated net profit, registering ₹901.70 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to ₹1,212.98 crore during the same quarter last year. Additionally, the company’s revenue from operations fell 17.1% YoY, standing at ₹12,226.86 crore for the quarter ending 31 December 2024.
This appointment not only signifies a leadership change but marks a moment of renewal for Petronet LNG’s financial journey, poised to be steered with fresh perspective and experienced hands.
