SanDisk has partnered with Meta to become the exclusive provider of flash storage products for its upcoming Meta VR Glasses. Announced on October 15 in New Delhi, the partnership will bring Meta-certified microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives to users when the glasses launch in spring 2027.
The storage accessories have been developed in collaboration with Meta and will be included in its official ‘Made for Meta’ accessories programme. Both product categories have undergone testing and certification by Meta to ensure compatibility and consistent performance with the upcoming headset.
The new lineup will include microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives. SanDisk has designed these products for users who need additional space for VR games, applications and media beyond the headset’s built-in storage.
The microSD Express memory cards will allow users to expand storage by inserting the cards into the device. The standard uses the PCIe interface and NVMe protocol, enabling faster data transfers than conventional microSD cards. These cards are intended to store games, applications and other virtual reality content.
The USB-C flash drives will provide another option for expanding storage. Users will be able to store and carry their content libraries, along with media captured on the headset.
According to SanDisk, the products are aimed at users with growing collections of VR games, applications and media who require more storage capacity.
The accessories are scheduled to launch alongside Meta VR Glasses in spring 2027. However, SanDisk has not yet disclosed the prices or available storage capacities for either product category. Pricing for the headset itself also remains unannounced.
The storage products will be sold in markets where Meta VR Glasses are available. Neither company has confirmed whether the headset will launch in India. SanDisk has also not shared country-specific availability or retail details for its Meta-certified accessories.
The partnership brings SanDisk’s storage technology into Meta’s upcoming VR ecosystem, giving users dedicated options to manage expanding collections of virtual reality content when the glasses become available.
