ChatGPT is expanding beyond text-based answers as OpenAI begins a global rollout of GPT-6 with Intelligent UI. The update allows the chatbot to present information through interactive elements, including graphics, charts, forms, buttons and tools that users can operate directly within conversations.

Depending on the request, GPT-6 can create experiences such as calculators, bill splitters and games. It can also present a recipe with a cooking schedule, display road-trip stops on a map or let users explore a topic by adjusting different inputs.

GPT-6 Intelligent UI: Availability

OpenAI said GPT-6 with Intelligent UI is rolling out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users. Free and Go users are scheduled to receive access from October 8.

The paid plans will use GPT-6 Sol, while GPT-6 Luna will power the Free and Go tiers. Enterprise users may need their workspace administrator to enable the update.

The rollout applies to ChatGPT’s Chat tab. The models used for Work and Codex will remain unchanged.

Faster answers and improved safeguards

GPT-6 can begin displaying interactive elements while it continues generating the rest of a response. It can also decide whether a visual interface would help or whether a simple text answer is more suitable. OpenAI said it tested these interfaces for clarity, usefulness and completeness.

The model can also start responding before it finishes processing a request, allowing users to read the initial response sooner.

OpenAI reported that, in its tests, GPT-6 Instant began answering web-search queries 44% faster than GPT-5.6 Instant.

The company has also improved GPT-6’s ability to handle attempts to bypass its safeguards, including those spread across multiple turns. Additional protections target high-risk misuse involving cyberattacks, biological threats and violence.

GPT-6 is also better at identifying when it lacks enough information or the tools needed to answer a question.
