Senthil Kumaran has joined CaratLane – A TATA Product as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), bringing more than 18 years of experience in enterprise cybersecurity and cyber risk across banking, financial services and retail.

Kumaran has built his career around cybersecurity leadership, enterprise cyber resilience, risk management, security operations and regulatory compliance. His expertise includes CISO strategy, audits, SIEM, SOC management, technical control testing, threat defence, endpoint and network security, vendor management and product evaluations.

Before joining CaratLane, Kumaran was Senior Manager – Information Security at Standard Chartered Bank. In this role, he managed the technical control testing framework for critical IT systems across the bank and worked on governance, risk and compliance initiatives aligned with internal risk frameworks, ISO 27001 and NIST standards.

His responsibilities also included conducting control gap analysis, identifying security weaknesses and supporting remediation efforts. He managed risk registers for IT systems, carried out technical testing and evidence-based validation, and worked with senior management, auditors and cross-functional teams to maintain audit readiness and close findings.

Kumaran also led teams involved in control validation and risk management. His role included conducting third-party and vendor security risk assessments, monitoring security posture and using KPI-based reporting and strategic risk metrics to strengthen cybersecurity.

His earlier experience includes roles at Standard Chartered and Karur Vysya Bank, where he developed expertise across enterprise security and cyber risk. He holds certifications including CISM, CEH, CC (ISC²), Tanium Certified Security Expert and Aruba Specialist.

Sharing the appointment, Kumaran expressed gratitude for reaching the milestone and thanked CaratLane leadership, including CEO Saumen Bhaumik and CPTO Gurukeerthi Gurunathan, for their trust and welcome.

He also acknowledged Karthee Ram, Riya Bavishi and the HR team for supporting his onboarding. Kumaran said he looks forward to working with the CaratLane team to strengthen security, protect customer trust and support the company’s continued growth.

He also credited his former mentor and Karur Vysya Bank CISO Gokul Chandar for his guidance in shaping his approach to cybersecurity and leadership. Kumaran expressed gratitude to his wife Rajeswari Baby Natchiar and his family for their continued support throughout his career.
