Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has agreed to take over Best Buy’s Global Capability Center in India as part of a plan to create an AI Native Capability Center and expand AI-led transformation capabilities.
Under the agreement signed on October 1, 2026, TCS will acquire 100% partnership interest in BBY Services India LLP for a cash consideration of ₹1 lakh. The transaction was approved by the Investment Committee empowered by TCS’ Board of Directors.
Completion is subject to the conditions specified in the agreement. The indicative timeline for closing is 3 to 4 weeks from the signing date.
BBY Services India LLP was incorporated in Bengaluru in 2023 and operates in the Information Technology and IT Enabled Services sector. The entity employs around 450 professionals working across Engineering, Data & Analytics and AI.
Building an AI-native capability centre
The deal combines Best Buy’s retail and enterprise knowledge with TCS’ technology, engineering and global delivery capabilities. The Best Buy India entity will transition to TCS while maintaining business continuity under a multi-year agreement.
TCS plans to transform the centre into an AI-native Capability Center using its Global Value & Innovation Centres framework. Teams will redesign workflows and develop AI-powered experiences.
The 450 employees will join TCS’ global organisation, helping preserve existing business knowledge while giving them access to TCS’ learning ecosystem. The move also supports TCS’ strategy to strengthen its capabilities in artificial intelligence and data analytics.
Revenue growth and deal value
BBY Services India LLP recorded rapid revenue growth after its incorporation. Its turnover was nil in FY24, increased to ₹48.12 crore in FY25 and reached ₹294.53 crore in FY26.
The ₹1 lakh acquisition price is significantly lower than the entity’s FY26 turnover of ₹294.53 crore. The disclosed structure indicates that the deal may be focused on strategic assets such as talent, intellectual property or contractual rights rather than traditional earnings-based valuation.
TCS’ historical stock returns are +2.57% over 1 day, +2.05% over 5 days, -10.10% over 1 month, -11.56% over 6 months, -26.92% over 1 year and -42.90% over 5 years.
