Airbnb is preparing a major app update for this fall, bringing new ways for users to connect with friends and family, discover stays and activities, and get help through AI-powered tools.
The update will introduce a new invite feature that allows users to suggest people as connections. Once connected, users will be able to see each other’s trips, activities and other shared information.
A new interactive Travel Map will show what users’ connections are doing on the platform. It will include their reviews and favourites, while also allowing users to message each other within the app. Airbnb says privacy controls will let users decide what information they want to share.
AI will also play a larger role in search and discovery. Users will be able to search for destinations and properties using natural language and voice requests. AI-powered filters will suggest related options to help users narrow down their choices.
Search results will also feature AI-generated descriptions highlighting important property features. Airbnb is adding an AI support assistant to help users with research, with support for more than 50 languages.
The platform is also expanding services available during stays. Depending on the region and market, users could access meal delivery, grocery delivery, laundry services, baby gear and other services.
Airbnb is also introducing new tools for hosts. A single calendar will allow hosts to manage and update multiple property listings from one place.
