Axis Bank has appointed Rajeev Mantri as Group Head and Chief Financial Officer, bringing nearly 3 decades of finance leadership experience across banking, financial services, credit information, consumer businesses and international markets.
Mantri joins Axis Bank from Bandhan Bank, where he served as Executive President and Chief Financial Officer from February 2024 to September 2026. His experience covers financial strategy, business planning, balance sheet management, regulatory reporting, financial controls, cost and investment management, transformation and business finance.
Before Bandhan Bank, Mantri served as Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer – India and Cluster Finance Head – South Asia at Citi. He led the finance function in India and oversaw finance operations in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with responsibilities spanning business planning, balance sheet management, financial controls, reporting, taxation and franchise-level financial matters.
Earlier, he was Chief Financial Officer at TransUnion CIBIL, where his responsibilities also included internal audit, procurement and facilities management.
Mantri spent nearly 9 years with Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, holding several global finance leadership roles across investments, technology and operations, cost management, retail lending finance, balance sheet management, regulatory reporting and financial control.
During his tenure, he served as CFO Investments and Head of Finance – Operations, Regions, Controls and Change, Global ITO. He also served as Global Head – Cost Management for Client Businesses and Head – Group Retail Lending Finance, overseeing financial aspects of the bank’s approximately $140 billion global retail lending portfolio.
Earlier in his career, Mantri spent nearly 4 years with Mashreq Bank in Dubai as Vice President – Finance, Corporate, Investment and Private Banking. He also spent more than 5 years with Standard Chartered Bank in Mumbai across business finance and management accounting.
He began his finance career with Diageo, working across management information, planning and financial analysis.
In his new role at Axis Bank, Mantri brings experience across strategic finance, regulatory and financial control, balance sheet management, investment governance and transformation, with professional experience spanning India, South Asia, Singapore and the Middle East.
