Apple’s foldable iPhone could offer more StandBy features than those shown at its launch, with a new leak pointing to additional faces and expanded customisation options.
The iPhone Duo, launched earlier this month as Apple’s first foldable alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, is expected to go on sale next month. While the non-foldable models have already reached customers, the foldable device could introduce a StandBy experience designed around its dual-display form factor.
Leaker @pdfu on X claims Apple is working on 5 previously unreported StandBy faces. Strings found in iOS 27.1 and additional testing through the iPhone Duo simulator reportedly revealed Home Camera, Home Modular, Flow, Fade and Snoopy. Some of these faces were also reportedly made to run during testing.
Home Camera appears focused on smart home monitoring. It could show a single camera feed or a grid with up to 9 camera feeds, potentially turning the iPhone Duo into a smart home display while in StandBy.
Home Modular could provide access to Home accessories and controls, although the leak does not reveal its exact interface or capabilities.
Flow is described in the code as “ResponsiveArt” and could feature animated or responsive artwork. Details about Fade remain limited. Snoopy could use Apple’s cartoon character in a design similar to the Snoopy experience available elsewhere in Apple’s software.
The leak also points to greater customisation for existing faces, including Analog, Digital, Classic Calendar, Weather, Photos, Memories and Shared Albums.
Analog, Digital and Classic Calendar are reportedly being designed with an editor similar to the Apple Watch face editor. Users could swipe through settings and scroll through options to change their appearance.
Analog Clock could offer style, colour and 2 widget slots, along with Arabic, Western/Arabic, Eastern and Devanagari numeral styles. Digital Clock could offer font, colour and 3 widget slots across 5 layouts: StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle and Bottom. Classic Calendar could offer style, font and colour options, while its Date style could include 1 widget slot.
The simulator currently lacks a widget registry, limiting testing of available widgets. The Rushmore app, reportedly intended to host the redesigned faces, was also missing from the iOS 27.1 simulator during testing.
