Efforts to speed up cybercrime fund recovery have sharply reduced pending cases in Delhi, with the police bringing pendency under the Money Restoration Module (MRM) from around 90% a month ago to 13.60%.
Pendency under the Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) has also fallen to 16.30%, officials said on Sunday. The improvement followed regular monitoring, reviews, team coordination and focused action on pending cases.
Under the MRM, Delhi Police have so far sent requests to restore Rs 2.32 crore to cybercrime victims. The amount increased from Rs 3.26 lakh on March 2, 2026, to Rs 10.80 lakh on April 1, Rs 36 lakh on July 1 and Rs 2.32 crore as of September 18.
The MRM is an initiative of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C). It helps restore money placed on hold in bank accounts to victims of cyber-enabled financial crimes reported through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), following the standard operating procedure prescribed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The GRM handles complaints from account holders whose bank accounts have been frozen, placed on hold or marked under lien while financial trails are being traced in cybercrime cases.
The IFSO Unit has disposed of 6,245 out of 6,617 MRM cases, recording a disposal rate of 94.38%. Delhi Police attributed the progress to continuous monitoring, regular reviews and supervision by teams at Police Headquarters and the IFSO unit in Dwarka.
A dedicated MRM and GRM State Nodal team at Police Headquarters operates under DCP IFSO-II Aynesh Roy. The IFSO team in Dwarka functions under DCP IFSO-I Gaurav Tyagi.
Delhi Police said pendency under both mechanisms is being monitored at Police Headquarters and the Ministry of Home Affairs level. The cases are also reviewed regularly to ensure timely disposal.
The force said its focus remains on faster grievance redressal and timely restoration of funds to eligible cybercrime victims.
