Google expands Gemini Notebook’s Short Video Overviews with 70+ languages

Google is making it easier for users to turn notebook content into short, watchable videos by expanding the language options available in Gemini Notebook’s Short Video Overviews. The feature converts documents, notes and links into brief vertical videos that highlight key information.

More languages and English variants

Short Video Overviews now support more than 70 additional languages. Google has also added 3 regional English variants for Australia, the UK and India.

The feature can turn documents, notes and links added to a Gemini Notebook into vertical videos of around 60 seconds. These videos focus on the main points from the source material and are generated in the user’s preferred language.

The expanded language support is rolling out across the web and mobile apps over the coming week. It will be available to subscribers on Google’s Ultra and Pro plans.

Designed for easier learning

Short Video Overviews are aimed at making learning more accessible and engaging, according to Michael Chen, Gemini Notebook Software Engineer. He said the feature combines concise storytelling with educational animations to help users understand complex concepts while on the go and share the videos with others.

Gemini Notebook also gets flexible usage limits

Separately, Google has introduced flexible usage limits for Gemini Notebook. These limits now refresh every 5 hours and vary based on factors such as prompt complexity, chat length, sources and features used.

When users reach a limit, they can defer Video Overviews and Slide Decks. Gemini Notebook will then generate them automatically once the limit refreshes. Users can also enable notifications to know when the outputs are ready.

Google is now rolling out these changes to consumer accounts on the web and mobile.
