India’s space-tech ecosystem is seeing continued investor interest as IIT-Bombay-incubated startup InspeCity secures fresh capital to advance its orbital servicing technologies.

The Mumbai-based startup has raised Rs 100 crore ($10.5 million) in a pre-Series A round co-led by Speciale Invest and investor Ashish Kacholia. Antler Elevate, Antler India, Manish Gandhi and Shastra VC also participated in the round.

InspeCity had earlier raised $5.6 million, or around Rs 46 crore, in a seed round led by Ashish Kacholia in May 2025. Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF-Kavachh and Anicut Capital also participated. The company had previously secured $1.5 million in pre-seed funding led by Speciale Invest and others.

The latest funding will support flight qualification and the expansion of InspeCity’s commercial activities.

Founded in 2022 by Arindrajit Chowdhury, InspeCity is developing in-space servicing, assembly and manufacturing (ISAM) technologies aimed at extending satellite lifespans and addressing space debris.

Its main platform, Vehicle for Life-Extension and Deorbiting Activities (VEDA), is an autonomous in-space servicing architecture designed to extend satellite lifetimes and gradually enable more advanced orbital servicing.

The company has developed several technologies for autonomous operations in space. GITA (Green Impulse TrAnsmitter) focuses on spacecraft propulsion and mobility, while CHAKSU (Comprehensive AI-enabled satellite-tracking Sensor Unit) supports sensing, navigation and proximity operations. RAMA (Remotely Actuated Motorized Arm) enables robotic manipulation, while SPARSH (Self-aligning Port for Autonomous Refueling and Satellite Housekeeping) is designed for cooperative docking and in-orbit propellant transfer.

Together, these systems form the foundation for orbital platforms including RIG (Remote Inspection and Guidance), VEDA and SAMA (Space-Based Maintenance Asset).

Over the next 12–18 months, InspeCity plans to conduct 4 in-orbit missions under its RIG-X, VEDA-X and SAMA-X roadmap. These missions will progressively test propulsion, sensing, autonomous operations, robotics, docking and refuelling capabilities in space.

The funding comes as other Indian space-tech startups also attract significant investment. Skyroot Aerospace raised $50 million in Series C funding, while EtherealX and Bellatrix Aerospace secured $21 million and $20 million respectively in Series A rounds. Digantara raised $50 million in Series B funding in December 2025, while Agnikul Cosmos raised Rs 150 crore in Series C funding in November 2025.

Dhruva Space, GalaxEye and Pixxel are also contributing to the sector through satellite infrastructure, Earth observation and space-data solutions.
