US-based financial services company The Standard is expanding its Bengaluru Global Capability Centre (GCC) to nearly 400 employees by the end of 2026, as it strengthens India’s role in its technology, innovation and business transformation strategy.
The company established its India GCC in November 2025 following its acquisition of Allstate’s Employer Voluntary Benefits business, which brought around 175 Bengaluru-based employees into The Standard. The Bengaluru facility was formally inaugurated in April 2026.
Since then, the centre has been expanding beyond traditional support functions, with The Standard positioning it as a strategic hub for technology and innovation. Its areas of focus include artificial intelligence, data and analytics, software engineering, customer experience, business transformation, security and infrastructure.
The expansion also reflects a broader shift in how The Standard is approaching its technology capabilities. Rather than relying extensively on external providers for emerging technology initiatives, the company is building more of these capabilities internally, with the aim of retaining expertise, business knowledge and intellectual property within the organisation.
The company has already seen significant growth in its technology teams in Bengaluru. Its AI and data and analytics teams have doubled, while its broader experience teams have grown more than twofold, according to the company.
The Standard’s leadership has identified India’s depth of specialised technology talent, particularly in AI, as an important factor behind the continued investment in Bengaluru. The centre is expected to contribute to global technology initiatives while working closely with teams in the US.
The company has also clarified that the expansion of its India operations is not intended to replace its US workforce. Instead, the Bengaluru GCC is being developed to add capacity, accelerate technology development and provide specialised capabilities to the wider organisation.
The move comes amid a broader transformation in India’s GCC landscape, with global enterprises increasingly using their India centres for engineering, product development, AI, analytics and strategic decision-making rather than limiting them to transactional or back-office operations.
For The Standard, Bengaluru is emerging as part of that transition. The company is building a workforce that can take ownership of higher-value technology and transformation initiatives while supporting its wider business objectives.
Globally, The Standard has grown significantly over the past three years, with the company reporting growth in its employee base, revenue and net operating income. Its India investment therefore forms part of a wider effort to build the technology and organisational capabilities required to support its growth.
With the Bengaluru centre expected to approach 400 employees by year-end, The Standard’s India strategy is increasingly centred on building long-term technology and innovation capabilities rather than simply expanding its delivery footprint.
