Google has entered India’s Bluetooth tracker market with the launch of the Pixel Tag, its first tracking device of this kind. The device will compete with Apple’s AirTag and is scheduled to go on sale in India in November through the Google India online store.
The Pixel Tag will be available as a single unit or a 4-pack. The single tracker is priced at ₹3,799, while the 4-pack costs ₹12,900. It will be available in a single Fog colour option.
The tracker features Bluetooth Channel Sounding and Ultra-Wideband connectivity for precision finding. Integrated with Find Hub, it provides directional guidance to help users locate the Pixel Tag. It also supports fast pairing between Google Pixel devices and the tracker.
The Pixel Tag comes with a built-in speaker that can be activated remotely through the Find Hub app on a Pixel device. Users can also press a button on the tracker to make their connected phone ring. The phone will sound the alert even when it is set to silent mode.
Users can also ask Gemini through a Google Pixel device to ring the Pixel Tag.
The tracker uses a replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery, which Google claims can last for more than 1 year. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and can withstand immersion at a maximum depth of 1 metre for up to 30 minutes.
The Pixel Tag is compatible with devices running Android 9 or newer. It features an accelerometer and a body made from polycarbonate and metal.
Google is offering a 1-year warranty with the device. The Pixel Tag measures 28×46.1×5.4mm and weighs approximately 11.8g.
