Multi-year partnership will integrate Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, giving enterprises access to hybrid quantum-classical computing
Bringing Quantum and Classical Computing Together
Oracle and quantum computing company Quantinuum have entered into a multi-year partnership to bring quantum computing capabilities to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), as technology companies increasingly look to move quantum computing from research environments towards commercial applications.
Under the partnership, Quantinuum’s 98-qubit Helios quantum computer will be deployed within an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure AI data centre in the US. The integration is designed to allow OCI customers to access quantum computing alongside conventional high-performance computing and GPU resources through a cloud environment.
A Push Towards Enterprise Quantum Computing
The companies are targeting hybrid quantum-classical computing, where quantum processors work alongside conventional computing infrastructure to tackle workloads that may benefit from quantum capabilities.
Rather than requiring enterprises to build or maintain dedicated quantum infrastructure, the OCI integration is intended to provide managed access to Quantinuum’s quantum computing capabilities through Oracle’s cloud platform.
This could allow organisations to experiment with quantum workloads using existing cloud infrastructure and explore potential applications across areas such as optimisation, materials science, financial modelling, drug discovery and artificial intelligence.
Quantinuum’s Helios System
Quantinuum’s Helios system is based on trapped-ion technology and features 98 physical qubits. The system has been designed with high-fidelity operations and all-to-all connectivity, capabilities intended to improve the reliability and flexibility of quantum workloads.
Financial Terms Undisclosed
The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the multi-year agreement or provided a specific timeline for the deployment.
The partnership nevertheless signals a broader industry shift: quantum computing is moving closer to being delivered as part of mainstream cloud infrastructure, potentially lowering the barrier for enterprises looking to test and develop quantum-powered applications.
As quantum hardware continues to advance, the ability to combine quantum processors with the classical computing resources already used by enterprises could become an important part of how the technology is adopted at scale.
