Telangana reports 27,230 cybercrime cases.

Cybercrime emerged as a growing concern in Telangana, which recorded the highest number of reported cybercrime cases in India in 2024. The state registered 27,230 cases during the year, with available data showing a five-fold increase between 2020 and 2024.

The figures were shared in the Rajya Sabha by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday in response to a question raised by Syed Naseer Hussain.

The minister said the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) compiles and publishes crime statistics through its annual publication, Crime in India.

“As per the data published by the NCRB, Telangana leads in cybercrime cases (27,230). Karnataka is in the second place with 21,993 cases,” he said.

Karnataka ranked second nationally, recording 21,993 cybercrime cases in 2024.

The data also highlights the sharp rise in cybercrime cases in Telangana over the 2020-2024 period, with the number increasing five-fold during these 4 years.
