Apple is reportedly preparing to enter the smart display market with its long-rumoured HomePad, which could launch as early as October, following the expected debut of the iPhone 18 series in September.
The device is expected to bring Siri AI, smart home controls, and video calling into a single display.
According to a report, Apple is targeting an October launch for the HomePad. However, the release could be delayed until late 2026 or early 2027 if development takes longer than expected. The delay is reportedly linked to Apple’s work on a new version of Siri AI, which is expected to power many of the device’s key features.
The HomePad is rumoured to feature a 7-inch square display and run on a new operating system based on tvOS. Its interface is expected to resemble iOS and watchOS, with app grids, widgets, and icons designed for simple navigation.
The device is expected to support video calls, smart home controls, security camera monitoring, music and video playback, and communication with other Apple devices. It may also offer a personalised experience by adjusting text size, images, and screen layouts for different users.
The HomePad is said to be part of Apple’s broader plan to strengthen its smart home portfolio. Reports suggest the company is also developing a new Apple TV, an updated HomePod mini, and its own smart security camera to compete with products such as Amazon Ring.
In addition, Apple is reportedly working on a more advanced smart home device featuring a robotic arm and a display, although that product is expected to arrive later.
If launched, the HomePad would mark Apple’s first major step into the smart display segment, giving users within the Apple ecosystem a central hub to manage connected devices from one screen.
