The government has introduced the system of registering e-Zero FIRs in cybercrime cases across eighteen states and Union Territories.
Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar informed that more than 12 thousand cases have been registered under e-Zero FIRs. He said the centre has provided a platform to the states and UTs for registering e-Zero FIRs in cybercrime cases, specifically for cyber financial fraud cases.
The minister informed that under this system, complaints involving a particular financial loss thresholds registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or through helpline 1930.
This will automatically result in the registration of an e-Zero FIR, which is then promptly transferred to the concerned territorial cybercrime police station.
Mr Kumar informed that the complainant is required to visit the respective police station within three days to convert the Zero FIR into a regular FIR.
