Karnataka is set to establish India’s first Museum of Innovation, Startup and Technology (MIST) in Bengaluru, with an investment of Rs 300 crore under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The initiative was announced by Minister for Home, Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology Priyank Kharge on Friday.

The museum will be developed at the repurposed Switchgear Factory Shed in NGEF, Bengaluru. The announcement is part of a series of technology-focused initiatives planned ahead of the 29th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS), scheduled to be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from November 17 to 19. The summit will focus on the theme ‘AI & Beyond’.

MIST will be a joint initiative between the UnboxingBLR Foundation and the Karnataka Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology. The state has selected the Henegan Peng Architects consortium, a globally recognised firm known for designing the Grand Egyptian Museum, for the project.

The minister also announced the Innoverse Foundation, a state government initiative aimed at positioning Karnataka as a global DeepTech hub. Other initiatives include increasing the grant support for deep-tech startups under Elevate Next to Rs 1 crore and plans for a proposed AI University.

“Innoverse acts as a catalyst, mentoring successful revenue-generating deep-tech Startups to evolve from good product-market fit to industry dominance. The Foundation empowers the next generation of industry leaders by providing critical market access, access to essential capital, and expert mentorship”, Priyank Kharge said.

The foundation will focus on supporting deep-tech startups by helping them access markets, funding opportunities and expert guidance to strengthen their growth and global competitiveness.
