Adobe has expanded the capabilities of Acrobat by integrating its PDF tools directly into WhatsApp Web and the WhatsApp Windows app. The new update allows users to view, review and collaborate on PDF documents without leaving their chat window, making document sharing and feedback more convenient.
With this integration, users can open PDF files directly within WhatsApp instead of downloading them or switching to another application. They can scroll through documents, zoom in, and view PDFs as they were originally designed.
The update also introduces basic editing and markup features inside WhatsApp. Users can highlight text, strike through content, add annotations, draw, underline text, and use circles to mark specific sections of a document for review. Adobe said these lightweight markup tools are designed to make collaboration faster and easier within conversations.
According to the company, the feature will benefit small businesses, entrepreneurs, students and customers who frequently exchange PDF documents through WhatsApp. The integration enables users to provide feedback and review documents on larger screens while staying inside the messaging platform.
Adobe also confirmed that password-protected Acrobat documents will remain secure. In addition, PDFs shared through WhatsApp will continue to be protected by the platform’s end-to-end encryption.
The latest update is part of Adobe’s broader strategy to enhance Acrobat with productivity-focused features. Earlier this year, the company introduced an AI-powered productivity agent for Adobe Acrobat that can coordinate AI tools and models to generate images, text and rich content for users.
The new integration aims to simplify document collaboration by allowing users to access essential Acrobat tools directly within WhatsApp, eliminating the need to switch between multiple applications.
