Fresh leaks suggest that Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi Note 17 could soon arrive in India with a higher price tag and software upgrades. The smartphone was recently introduced in China alongside the Redmi Note 17 Pro, and reports indicate that the Indian variant may retain the same hardware specifications as its Chinese counterpart.
According to a tipster, the Redmi Note 17 is expected to start at over Rs. 30,000 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is also tipped to run HyperOS 3, based on Android 16.
The report further claims that Xiaomi will provide 4 years of Android OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates for the device. It is also expected to feature LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. However, these details have not been officially confirmed by the company.
Earlier reports suggested that the Redmi Note 17 could launch in India on August 6, with sales expected to begin on August 11. The handset is reportedly set to arrive with specifications similar to the version launched in China.
For reference, the Redmi Note 17 debuted in China on July 14 at a starting price of CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs. 18,000) for the 6GB + 128GB variant. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor and packs a massive 8,000mAh battery.
In terms of cameras, the device features a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
While Xiaomi has not officially announced the India launch or pricing, the latest leaks suggest the Redmi Note 17 could be positioned as a premium mid-range smartphone in the Indian market.
