Vertical Aerospace is set to conduct the first public demonstration flights of its Valo electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft at the upcoming Farnborough International Airshow. The milestone marks another step in the UK-based company’s journey toward aircraft certification and future commercial electric aviation services.
The demonstrations come during a significant phase of the company’s development. In recent months, Vertical Aerospace has unveiled its Valo aircraft, completed successful piloted transition flights, strengthened its financial position, expanded global technology partnerships, advanced its hybrid-electric defense strategy, and continued progressing its certification program.
Following successful testing of the aircraft’s core capabilities, the company is now focusing on certification, industrialization, and preparations for commercial operations. Alongside live piloted demonstrations of its full-scale prototype, Vertical Aerospace will also display a full-scale commercial model of the Valo aircraft, giving visitors a closer look at its next-generation electric aviation technology.

The company plans to conduct demonstration flights throughout the airshow, subject to approved flight conditions. The flights follow the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s recent expansion of Vertical Aerospace’s Permit to Fly, allowing the company to perform public demonstrations beyond its Flight Test Centre at Cotswold Airport for the first time.
Since receiving the expanded approval, Vertical’s test pilots have successfully operated the aircraft at RAF Brize Norton, RAF Benson, Blackbushe Airport, and Farnborough Airport, further strengthening its flight testing program across multiple operating environments.
Looking ahead, the company aims to complete its Critical Design Review (CDR) by the end of 2026, establishing the certifiable aircraft design baseline. It also plans to launch its early production aircraft assembly facility in Q3 2026, expand the Vertical Energy Centre in Q4 2026, select a long-term turbogenerator supplier during 2026, and begin hybrid-electric flight testing in H1 2027.
