OpenAI has announced a series of updates to GPT-5.6, making the model easier to access while responding to growing user demand. The company is increasing GPT-5.6 usage limits and removing the earlier 5-hour usage window, allowing users to work with fewer interruptions.

In a separate post, Tibo also addressed concerns about usage restrictions. He said the team is testing different reasoning efforts, also known as juice values, especially for multi-agent scenarios. He added that the reasoning capability had been temporarily reduced as part of an experiment but has now been restored to its original level.

OpenAI has also introduced a few additional changes to support unrestricted usage. The context size limit has been reduced to 272,000 tokens from 372,000 tokens to lower overall usage. At the same time, inference optimizations now provide 10% more usage with GPT-5.6 Sol.

The company recently launched the GPT-5.6 family of AI models after a short preview period. The lineup includes Sol, Terra, and Luna, each designed for different performance and computing needs. GPT-5.6 Sol is the most powerful model and is built for demanding tasks such as coding, creative design, and in-depth analysis. Luna focuses on cost-efficient workloads while reportedly outperforming Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8 and 5. Terra offers a balanced combination of performance and efficiency.

Alongside these models, OpenAI also introduced ChatGPT Work, its answer to Claude Cowork. The tool can collect context from apps and services across a desktop or web browser and coordinate tasks to help users achieve professional goals, while also being capable of supporting personal tasks. OpenAI has also upgraded the standalone Codex app and integrated it with ChatGPT Work.

According to the company, these new capabilities have driven record-breaking ChatGPT usage, making the latest changes a timely step toward improving the user experience.
