Sathapana Bank has appointed Vishal Wadhwa as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Based in Phnom Penh, he will work closely with the executive leadership team to accelerate business growth, strengthen customer-centricity, drive innovation, and create long-term value for customers, employees, shareholders, and the communities the bank serves.
Vishal brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience across banking, financial services, rural finance, operations, and business transformation. Throughout his career, he has led large-scale businesses and strategic initiatives across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Before joining Sathapana Bank, Vishal served as Executive Vice President at Bandhan Bank for nearly 3 years, where he headed the Micro Banking and Emerging Entrepreneur Business. He led one of the bank’s key growth businesses focused on financial inclusion and entrepreneurship.
Earlier, he spent almost 1 year as Executive Vice President at Arohan Financial Services Limited, leading the micro banking business across operations, products, collections, and business development.
Prior to that, Vishal spent more than 10 years with SMFG India Credit, progressing from Senior Vice President & General Manager to Executive Vice President. During his tenure, he led the rural business portfolio and was responsible for rural business strategy, integrated risk management, collections, and business expansion.
He also served as Vice President at Tata Consultancy Services for over 1 year, where he led client engagement and operations delivery for the Commercial Bank of Qatar. His responsibilities included overseeing banking operations, trade services, and contact centre transformation across Doha and Chennai.
Earlier in his career, Vishal spent more than 10 years at Citi, holding leadership positions including Assistant Vice President and Vice President. He managed national distributed operations, regional operations, and risk control functions while leading large operational teams across multiple locations.
He also worked as Risk Manager at ABN AMRO for around 1 year after beginning his banking career at Citi as Unit Head – Cards Collections, where he developed expertise in retail banking operations and collections management.
With his extensive leadership experience across banking and financial services, Vishal is expected to support Sathapana Bank’s growth strategy while strengthening innovation, operational excellence, and customer-focused banking.
