Apple has announced a major long-term investment by committing to spend more than $30 billion on chips from Broadcom over the next five years. The agreement reinforces Apple’s focus on securing critical semiconductor supplies while supporting advanced chip manufacturing in the United States.
As part of the deal, Broadcom will expand its manufacturing operations in Fort Collins, Colorado, where billions of connectivity chips used in Apple devices will be produced. The partnership is expected to deliver more than 15 billion chips through 2031, ensuring a stable supply for future iPhones, iPads, Macs and other Apple products.
The chips supplied by Broadcom power essential wireless technologies, including 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity. While Apple continues to design its own custom processors, it remains dependent on Broadcom for several specialized communication components that are vital to its ecosystem.
The agreement also aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to increase investment in US manufacturing and strengthen domestic semiconductor production. Industry analysts say the long-term commitment reduces supply chain risks, supports local jobs and provides Broadcom with predictable demand for years to come.
The expanded partnership highlights Apple’s continued investment in resilient technology infrastructure as global demand for advanced chips continues to grow.
