Microsoft is preparing to roll out several new features for Teams, including AI-powered meeting assistance, improved chat organisation, and updates to guest invitations. The latest additions have reportedly appeared on the Microsoft admin portal, with a wider rollout expected over the coming weeks.

One of the key additions is the new AI Facilitator feature. According to reports, the AI tool will analyse conversations during meetings and identify situations where participants may need additional context or clarification. When required, it can generate responses using web search and post them directly in the meeting chat.

The AI Facilitator will be disabled by default, and users will have the option to turn off all AI-powered meeting features through a dedicated Meeting AI toggle. The feature will be available to organisers and meeting participants, while guest users will not have access.

Microsoft is also expanding AI-generated meeting notes to Teams Rooms on Windows. Previously available only for scheduled online meetings, the feature will now support in-person meetings as well. By selecting the Take notes option, users can generate real-time meeting summaries, capture important decisions, and automatically create action items without scheduling a hybrid meeting.

The company is expected to introduce this capability in August, followed by a broader rollout in October.

Teams is also receiving an updated chat experience with two new sections named Muted and Meeting chats. These categories will automatically organise conversations, making it easier for users to manage discussions.

Another update will improve guest invitations. Instead of being sent from a no-reply email address, invitations will now be delivered from the organiser’s own email address. Microsoft is expected to complete the rollout of this feature by the end of the month.
