Tata Communications has appointed Rupesh Chokshi as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), succeeding Genius Wong, who stepped down from the role due to personal reasons.
Before joining Tata Communications, Chokshi served as Senior Vice President and General Manager – Application Security at Akamai Technologies. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership positions at AT&T, building extensive experience across technology, cybersecurity and enterprise infrastructure.
The company also announced the appointment of Vivek Srivastava as Executive Vice President and Business Head – Cloud and Cyber Security Services, further strengthening its technology leadership team.
The leadership changes come as Tata Communications continues to manage the impact of the June 5 fire at a New Delhi data centre jointly owned with ST Telemedia. The incident caused significant damage to parts of the facility, making data recovery operations challenging.
The latest appointments are part of a broader leadership transition at the company. Earlier this year, Tata Communications appointed Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Chief Executive Officer in May and named a new Chief Financial Officer in February.
The company is also accelerating investments in AI-driven digital infrastructure, cloud connectivity and the expansion of its subsea network, with the new leadership team expected to support its next phase of technology and business growth.
