Fresh leaks suggest Xiaomi is preparing a battery upgrade for its upcoming flagship smartphone without increasing its size. The latest information indicates that the standard 18 could offer improved battery life while retaining its compact form factor.

According to a tipster, the Xiaomi 18 engineering prototype is currently equipped with a 7,200mAh battery. If the leak proves accurate, the device will offer a 200mAh increase over the Xiaomi 17, which features a 7,000mAh battery. Despite the upgrade, the smartphone is expected to maintain its compact design, even as other brands reportedly test devices with 8,000mAh and 10,000mAh batteries.

Previous leaks suggest the Xiaomi 18 could feature a 6.4-inch display with 2K resolution. The screen is also expected to have a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, rounded corners and slim bezels on all four sides.

The camera system may also receive a major upgrade. Earlier reports claimed that the Xiaomi 18 engineering prototype includes a 200-megapixel primary rear camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor. The Xiaomi 18 series is also rumoured to feature a dual 200-megapixel camera setup.

For comparison, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are equipped with a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera and another 50-megapixel sensor.

Separately, the same tipster suggested that Xiaomi could introduce the 18 series in China in September. The launch is expected to take place around 1 year after the Xiaomi 17 lineup debuted in September 2025.

The Xiaomi 17 series included the 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, with starting prices of CNY 4,499 (roughly Rs. 56,000), CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 62,300) and CNY 5,999 (roughly Rs. 74,700), respectively. It has not officially confirmed the specifications or launch timeline of the 18 series.
