drivebuddyAI earns Indian patent for AI-powered self-calibrating lane detection technology

In a move aimed at improving vehicle safety and autonomous driving capabilities, drivebuddyAI has received an Indian patent for its self-calibrating lane detection technology. The innovation is designed to enhance the accuracy of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) without requiring manual calibration.

As ADAS adoption increases globally, precise detection of the drivable corridor is critical for features such as lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts and driver assistance interventions. Traditional systems often face challenges due to differences in camera positioning, vehicle architecture and road conditions.

drivebuddyAI’s patented framework automatically optimises lane calculations during new installations, software updates and system reboots. The system operates without manual intervention and continuously improves performance using real-world driving data.

The patent includes AI-powered frame validation, vehicle-specific lane adaptation and a dual-camera architecture that combines road-facing ADAS with Driver Monitoring Systems. It also supports real-time safety functions, including lane departure warnings, collision avoidance and steering assistance.

The technology is compatible with Level 2 and Level 3 autonomous driving applications, including Autonomous Emergency Braking and advanced path planning. Unlike static calibration methods, the system continuously validates and optimises lane detection, enabling reliable performance across poor lane markings, adverse weather and different vehicle platforms.

The platform has been trained and validated using more than 6.4 billion kilometres of real-world driving data covering highways, urban roads, rural areas, low-light conditions and mixed-traffic environments.

Mr. Nisarg Pandya, Founder and CEO of drivebuddyAI, said, “The effectiveness of any ADAS system depends on how accurately it understands the drivable space around the vehicle. This patent is a significant step towards self-calibrating ADAS systems that deliver more reliable safety alerts with minimal manual intervention.”

The technology is expected to benefit commercial fleets and OEMs by simplifying deployment and reducing maintenance through cloud connectivity and over-the-air updates. With this development, drivebuddyAI’s intellectual property portfolio has expanded to more than 15 patents across ADAS, DMS, AI perception, driver risk assessment and intelligent mobility technologies.
