Google introduces AI video editing, Screen Reactions and Bubbles in latest Pixel update

Bringing a major boost to its Pixel ecosystem, Google has rolled out the June 2026 Pixel Drop update, introducing several new AI-powered features and productivity tools for eligible Pixel smartphones. The update also includes select capabilities from Android 17, enhancing content creation, multitasking, communication, and device safety.

One of the key additions is Screen Reactions, a feature designed for creators and educators. It allows users to record their screen while simultaneously capturing selfie video, making it easier to create tutorials, walkthroughs, and reaction content without using multiple applications. The feature can be enabled through Quick Settings before starting a screen recording.

Google has also expanded support for Bubbles, allowing users to convert compatible apps into floating windows by long-pressing an app icon. On the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, these floating applications can be accessed through a dedicated Bubble Bar for easier multitasking.

The update further enhances Gemini integration with new Gemini Omni-powered video editing tools. Users can create and edit videos using natural language prompts, remix photos and clips, work with templates, or generate AI avatars using the Gemini Avatar feature.

Pixel users are also receiving AI-powered music generation capabilities. Through the Gemini app, users can create original songs by describing an idea or uploading an image. The generated tracks can include lyrics and allow customization of vocals, genre, and tempo.

For users in India, Google is introducing Manual Call Screen support. The feature helps screen unknown callers by asking them to identify themselves and explain the purpose of the call before the user answers. The “Take a Message” feature has also been upgraded with Custom Greetings for personalized missed-call responses.

Several existing features are being expanded to more devices. Voice Translate with real-time speech-to-speech translation is now available on the Pixel 10a. Meanwhile, Pixel 8a and Pixel 9a users can now exchange files with Apple users using both AirDrop and Quick Share.

On the safety front, Emergency Sharing now supports Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection, and Loss of Pulse Detection. If a serious emergency is detected, supported Pixel devices can automatically contact emergency services while simultaneously notifying selected emergency contacts.
