In a significant push towards digital innovation, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced the formation of a joint task force with Google to advance artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital governance initiatives across the state.

The decision was taken during a meeting between Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Google Asia-Pacific President Karan Bhatia in Singapore during the first day of Naidu’s 2-day visit to the country.

According to an official statement, the discussions focused on positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leading destination for AI, data centres, and digital infrastructure in India.

Naidu invited Google to play a larger role in the state’s digital transformation efforts and sought support from Google Cloud to strengthen public service delivery through AI-driven technologies. He also proposed expanding Andhra Pradesh’s Real-Time Governance ecosystem using advanced digital solutions.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s plans to establish AI and Cloud Computing Centres in universities and engineering colleges and proposed collaboration in AI skilling and cloud certification programmes.

He also invited Google to participate in the Sanjeevani Project, a technology-enabled healthcare initiative designed to deliver accessible and efficient healthcare services. Naidu further highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s progress in renewable energy and green infrastructure, which can provide sustainable power for data centres and other energy-intensive industries.

During his visit, Naidu also met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss cooperation in technology, semiconductors, quantum technologies, education, trade, urban development, and sustainability. He invited Singapore to explore imports of horticulture and aquaculture products from Andhra Pradesh and sought support for certified agricultural exports.

The discussions also covered semiconductor manufacturing, capacity-building initiatives, logistics, airport infrastructure, and port-led development. Wong expressed interest in Amaravati’s development, while Naidu described the capital city as one of the region’s most future-ready urban centres.

Additional meetings were held with Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, YCH Logistics Group executive Sunil Nambiar, and UN-Habitat Executive Director Anacláudia Rossbach to explore partnerships in logistics, infrastructure, urban development, and sustainability.
