Googlebook lineup may feature 8 devices with mixed Intel, Snapdragon and MediaTek chips

Fresh leaks suggest that Google’s upcoming Googlebook laptop series may launch with a broader device range than initially expected, including up to 8 different models. The lineup is part of Google’s new Chromebook successor ecosystem powered by Gemini Intelligence and the Android operating system, which was introduced last month. The laptops are expected to arrive later this year through partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

Leak points to 8 Googlebook devices under development

As per details spotted by ChromeUnboxed in the Chromium Gerrit, references were found to 8 separate Googlebook baseboards tied to a custom boot screen feature. These entries are believed to be connected to the first-generation Googlebook lineup currently in development.

The leak indicates a mixed chipset strategy across the range. Out of the 8 devices, 4 models are reportedly based on Intel processors, 3 models are expected to use Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets, and 1 model may be powered by MediaTek.

Chipset breakdown and codename details

The Intel-powered models are said to carry the codenames Felino, Lapis, Moonstone, and Ruby. Meanwhile, Snapdragon-based devices are reportedly listed under the codenames Quenbi, Mica, and Quartz. However, exact Snapdragon variants have not been revealed.

The final device, codenamed Sapphire, is believed to be a Googlebook tablet powered by a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, suggesting that the lineup may extend beyond traditional laptops.

It is still unclear whether Google plans to launch all 8 devices at the same time, but the code references indicate they are part of the initial Googlebook development phase.

Last month, Google officially confirmed the Googlebook series and its partnerships with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. The devices are expected to go on sale later “this fall”.

Googlebook devices will be built around Gemini Intelligence and include the Chrome browser and Google Play Store support. The ecosystem is designed for seamless Android integration, allowing compatibility with Android smartphones. Features include Magic Pointer for quick access to Gemini, a Glowbar interface, and a Quick Access tool to find files from Android phones directly through the laptop’s file manager.
