Tata Power targets 3 lakh rooftop solar installations in Uttar Pradesh with new clean energy initiative

With demand for clean and reliable energy continuing to rise, Tata Power Solar Rooftop has launched a new initiative in Uttar Pradesh aimed at accelerating rooftop solar adoption across households in the state.

The company introduced its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in Lucknow in partnership with Tata Power Battery Storage, an integrated battery energy storage solutions provider. The initiative is designed to help consumers meet growing electricity requirements through cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions while ensuring round-the-clock power availability.

As part of the campaign, Tata Power plans to install 3 lakh rooftop solar systems across Uttar Pradesh over the next 3 years. The installations are expected to contribute a cumulative capacity of 1,000 MWp, significantly expanding the state’s rooftop solar footprint.

Tata Power Solar Rooftop, a part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), aims to make solar energy more accessible by combining rooftop solar systems, battery storage solutions, and simplified financing options under a single platform.

Speaking at the launch, Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, said, “Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing rooftop solar regions, supported by strong policy momentum and rising consumer demand for clean energy. Through our ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign, we aim to make rooftop solar more accessible and affordable by combining battery storage with easy financing under one integrated platform.”

The company believes the initiative will encourage wider adoption of renewable energy while helping households reduce dependence on conventional power sources.

A key factor supporting solar adoption in the state is its attractive subsidy structure. According to Tata Power, Uttar Pradesh offers one of the highest rooftop solar subsidies in the country, with benefits of up to ₹1.08 lakh available for systems up to 3 kW through a combination of the PM Surya Ghar scheme subsidy and support from the state government.

The campaign reflects Tata Power’s continued focus on expanding clean energy solutions and supporting India’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
