Kerala-based Netrasemi enters AI chip market with production-ready A2000 processor

In a significant development for India’s semiconductor and artificial intelligence sector, Kerala-based startup Netrasemi has launched its first AI chip, the A2000, and commenced customer trials after completing validation and production-readiness testing.

Supported by Zoho, the A2000 is an Edge AI System-on-Chip (SoC) built to deliver real-time artificial intelligence processing directly on devices. The chip is designed for use in smart cameras, intelligent video gateways, edge AI platforms, surveillance systems, and automotive applications where low power consumption and high-performance computing are critical.

Manufactured using TSMC’s 12nm process technology, the A2000 incorporates several proprietary processing engines developed by Netrasemi. These include capabilities for neural computing, computer vision, image processing, and security functions, enabling efficient AI workloads at the edge while maintaining energy efficiency.

The company has already begun customer evaluations with organizations operating in the surveillance and automotive sectors. These trials mark an important step toward commercial deployment as Netrasemi prepares for broader market adoption and production scale-up.

Founded in Kerala, Netrasemi focuses on developing high-performance Edge AI System-on-Chips for real-time, on-device AI applications. Its technology is aimed at industries such as surveillance, robotics, drones, automotive, smart infrastructure, and industrial automation.

The launch of the A2000 highlights the growing strength of India’s semiconductor ecosystem and reflects increasing momentum in the domestic AI hardware industry. The development also aligns with the broader push to build indigenous semiconductor capabilities and accelerate innovation in advanced technology sectors.
