OnePlus 16 leak hints at 185Hz display and 200MP telephoto camera

Fresh leaks surrounding the upcoming OnePlus flagship suggest the company is testing several premium upgrades for the rumoured OnePlus 16 smartphone. The handset is expected to arrive as the brand’s next-generation flagship and could feature a high-refresh-rate display, slimmer bezels, a new telephoto camera system, and AI-focused features.

According to a tipster on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 is currently being tested with a 185Hz display. Earlier reports hinted at a possible 240Hz refresh rate, but the latest leak points to a slightly lower figure. Even so, it could still become the highest refresh rate ever offered on a OnePlus smartphone. For comparison, the current OnePlus 15 lineup supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate.

The leak also claims the device may feature ultra-thin bezels on all 4 sides. Previous reports suggested the phone could use a flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution along with LTPO and LIPO packaging technologies. These technologies are expected to reduce bezel size to nearly 1mm across the display.

Camera upgrades are also expected to play a major role in the OnePlus 16. The smartphone is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support. Reports also mention the inclusion of a dedicated AI button, although details about its functionality are still unknown.

The handset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon flagship chipset, which could succeed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Reports suggest the processor may reach clock speeds of up to 5GHz.

Battery performance could also see a major jump. The OnePlus 16 is rumoured to pack a battery close to the 7,000mAh mark, making it one of the largest batteries in the premium smartphone segment.

While the company has not officially confirmed any specifications or launch timeline, the OnePlus 16 is expected to debut in Q4 2026.
