The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors following the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. He has also been appointed as an Additional Director on the Board, with his tenure set to continue until May 19, 2031, subject to shareholder approval.
Lakshminarayanan brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across multinational corporations, Indian enterprises, and B2B technology organizations.
Prior to joining Tata Communications, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for India and SAARC at ServiceNow, where he led regional business growth and enterprise operations.
Before ServiceNow, he held several senior leadership roles at Bharti Airtel, including CEO of Airtel Business India and CEO of Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit. During his tenure, he led enterprise connectivity, digital services, and large-scale business transformation initiatives.
His appointment comes at a time when the telecom and digital infrastructure sector is witnessing growing demand for cloud services, cybersecurity, AI-enabled solutions, enterprise connectivity, and secure global networks.
According to the company, there are no inter se relationships between Lakshminarayanan and any member of the Board. Tata Communications also confirmed that he has not been debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other regulatory authority.
Lakshminarayanan holds an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College, graduating as a gold medallist.
With deep expertise spanning telecom, enterprise software, and digital services, he is expected to play a key role in advancing Tata Communications’ enterprise transformation strategy and strengthening its position in the global digital infrastructure market.
