Piri brings extensive experience across financial services, insurance, banking, actuarial strategy, governance, and enterprise financial transformation.
In his new role, Kularajah will oversee the organisation’s financial strategy, governance, budgeting, forecasting, statutory compliance, and enterprise performance management. He will also provide strategic financial guidance to the Agency Head, Executive Committee, and Audit & Risk Committee, while leading initiatives related to financial governance, controls, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and operational performance.
Before joining the Tax Ombudsman, Piri Kularajah served as General Manager, Financial Performance & Analysis at icare NSW. There, he worked closely with executive leadership, including the CEO, CFO, Board, and NSW Treasury, leading enterprise planning, forecasting, governance, reporting transformation, and long-term financial sustainability initiatives.
Earlier, he spent more than 3 years at Acenda, where he held the roles of Head of Profitability & Performance Reporting and Head of Actuarial Valuation. During this period, he led strategic planning, scenario modelling, actuarial valuation, profitability analysis, APRA reporting, and enterprise embedded value reporting. He also played a key role in implementing AASB 17 compliance for insurance contract liabilities through a large-scale transformation program.
Prior to Acenda, Piri Kularajah held senior leadership positions at AIA Australia, managing actuarial business partnering, valuation, financial planning, investor reporting, and strategic acquisition integration linked to the acquisition of CommInsure Life from Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
His earlier career also includes leadership roles with ANZ, Aviva, Citi, and ING Australia, where he built expertise across actuarial valuation, profitability management, pricing strategy, capital optimisation, portfolio analysis, enterprise forecasting, and financial planning.
With nearly 20 years of experience across finance, insurance, banking, governance, and enterprise transformation, Kularajah brings strong financial and strategic leadership to the organisation.
