Expanding its technology footprint in India, Uber has announced plans to set up its first data centre in the country in partnership with the Adani Group. The facility is expected to become operational later in 2026 and will support the company’s technology testing and deployment efforts.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi shared the announcement on social media platform X during his visit to India. He posted the update after meeting Gautam Adani, founder and chairman of the Adani Group.
Khosrowshahi said the investment would help Uber expand its technology capabilities globally using India as a key development base. “Ready later this year, this investment will help us build at scale from India, for the world,” he wrote.
The announcement comes as part of Khosrowshahi’s India visit, during which he met several senior government leaders on May 13. His meetings included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
Uber said the upcoming data centre will focus on testing and deploying technology solutions while strengthening the company’s operations and infrastructure in India.
Khosrowshahi, who last visited India in 2024, is also expected to travel to Mumbai to meet state officials before visiting Uber’s technology centre in Bengaluru.
The move highlights India’s growing importance in Uber’s global technology and infrastructure strategy as the company continues expanding its engineering and digital operations in the country.
