Agnikul Cosmos plans major funding push to expand commercial space operations

India’s private space sector continues to attract investor attention as space technology start-up Agnikul Cosmos is reportedly in discussions to raise between $50 million and $75 million in a new funding round.

According to a financial news report, the fundraising is being planned at a flat valuation of nearly $500 million, the same valuation at which the company raised $17 million in November 2025 from investors including HDFC Bank and 100X.VC.

The latest talks come shortly after a recent funding round by Skyroot Aerospace, reflecting growing investor confidence in India’s emerging private space industry.

The Chennai-based company has reportedly held early-stage discussions with growth-stage investor Avataar Ventures, which has previously invested in companies such as Amagi, Capillary Technologies and RateGain.

As part of the Series C funding round, Agnikul is also in talks with some of its existing shareholders. The company is expected to use the funds to expand production capabilities as it prepares for commercial deployment.

Currently backed by investors including Celesta Capital, Artha Venture Fund and Chiratae Ventures, Agnikul also received ₹25 crore investment from the Tamil Nadu government through TIDCO in March 2026.

The IIT-Madras incubated company has projected more than $200 million in revenue from soft commitments. It plans to carry out 35 launches between 2026 and 2028 and claims to have onboarded more than 20 customers.

Agnikul also estimates long-term annual revenue of $100 million with gross margins of nearly 70% at scale. However, the company could face fundraising challenges due to its complex technology roadmap involving modular launch vehicles powered by fully 3D-printed engines.

The company is building modular launch vehicles capable of carrying payloads of up to 300 kg and is also developing mobile launchpad systems for launches from multiple locations. Agnikul competes with Skyroot Aerospace, whose Vikram launch vehicles support payloads up to 480 kg.
