Expanding its smartphone processor lineup, Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipsets to deliver faster performance, smoother gaming, and better battery efficiency across a wider range of devices globally.
The company said both platforms are designed to improve everyday smartphone experiences with stronger AI-powered features, enhanced graphics, improved connectivity, and higher efficiency. Smartphones powered by the new chipsets are expected to launch in the second half of 2026 from brands including Honor, OPPO, realme, and Redmi.
One of the key additions is Qualcomm’s new “Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI” technology. The feature is designed to reduce lag and improve responsiveness while navigating apps and menus.
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 delivers 20% faster app launches and reduces screen stutter by 18%. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 reportedly improves app launch speeds by 43% and cuts screen stutter by 25% compared to previous generations.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 focuses on gaming and AI capabilities. Qualcomm said the chipset includes AI-powered camera tools to improve image quality and photo capture. It also introduces the Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 for smoother and longer gaming sessions, offering up to 21% better GPU performance with improved power efficiency.
The chipset also supports ultra-fast 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 7.
Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is aimed at entry-level and mid-range smartphones. Qualcomm said the platform offers up to 77% improved GPU performance and supports 90FPS gaming for the 1st time in the Snapdragon 4-series lineup.
The chipset also supports Dual SIM Dual Active functionality with 5G + 5G/4G connectivity for better network flexibility.
Qualcomm confirmed that Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will power upcoming smartphones from Honor and Redmi, while Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 will appear in devices from OPPO, realme, and Redmi.
